Last Lift

An online party game for up to 12 in the browser: a falling elevator opens for fourteen seconds per floor; grab loot and get back in, or haunt the living as a ghost.

Last Lift: the title over a laser vault, beside the daycare ball pit, the flooded spa and the cable snapping between floors

About the project

A skyscraper elevator falls from floor 40, and at every stop the doors open for fourteen seconds on a random room: an office party with a conga line, a server farm on fire, a rooftop zoo with a loose gorilla, a flooding spa where wet loot gets heavier, a laser vault, and a daycare ball pit guarded by a toddler. Everyone runs out for loot and has to be back inside when the doors shut. The cab has an 800 kg limit, the cable snaps between floors unless you grab a rail, and anyone left behind becomes a ghost who can kill the lights, press a floor button to close the doors sooner, or set the room's hazard on someone still alive. It is built in Godot 4 and runs in the browser: one player's tab hosts the match and the others connect straight to it over WebRTC, with a small Cloudflare Worker handing out four-digit room codes and Quickplay matches, so there is no game server to pay for.
